Sex Therapy
In-Person and Online Sex Therapy in Colorado
What’s harder than talking about your sexual issues?
Living with them!
Sex plays an essential role in your well-being and mental health.
Yet, when facing sexual challenges, you may not want to discuss them out of embarrassment or discomfort. You might believe you can take care of your sex issues or that they will go away on their own. Or perhaps sex is taboo or unspoken in your world, so it’s easier to ignore the subject altogether.
But sweeping your sexual problems under the rug or locking them in a tight little box does not make them disappear. In fact, they can get more complicated over time. Improving communication about sex is the first step to overcoming sexual obstacles and having a fulfilling sex journey.
Let’s Talk About Sex (Without Reservations)
I’m Kristen Cochran-Ward, a licensed clinical social worker and AASECT certified sex therapist offering sex therapy to individuals and couples in Fort Collins, Loveland, Wellington, Windsor, Timnath, and all across Colorado through teletherapy.
Sex therapy does not have to be daunting or awkward. It can be enlightening and fun! My mission is to empower you to reclaim your voice so you can embrace and celebrate your sexual self.
I welcome you individually and/or with your partner(s) with respect, compassion, and curiosity. Whatever brings you to this space, you are safe here. We’ll navigate your unique challenges, restore satisfaction, and revitalize your connection so you can genuinely have immense pleasure in your sex life.

Is Sex Therapy for You?
Sex is supposed to be a healthy and pleasant experience. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case.
If you or your partner(s) are struggling with any of the below issues, sex therapy can help you.
Common reasons to go to sex therapy:
- Difficulties with arousal, orgasm, or sexual performance (e.g., erection problems, inability to orgasm, premature ejaculation)
- Guilt or shame around sex
- Lack of desire, passion, or intimacy
- Pain, discomfort, or dissatisfaction during sex
- Sexual abuse or trauma
- Misaligned expectations or unmet needs between partners
- Self-esteem and confidence issues
- Body image concerns
- Challenges related to gender identity or sexual orientation
- Compulsive sexual behavior
- Navigating nontraditional or alternative lifestyles (e.g., BDSM, polyamory)
- Sexual anxiety or stress
- And more!
While sex therapy can help you address these and other challenges, you don’t need to have a sexual problem to see a sex therapist.
If you or your partner(s) want to examine your sexuality or learn about sex and how it affects your well-being, I’m here for you.
How Can Sex Therapy Help You?
Sex therapy provides a neutral and confidential setting to explore the negative self-talk, shame, guilt, past hurts, and patterns that may be affecting your sexual well-being. I will facilitate honest and vulnerable conversations to uncover your thoughts, emotions, experiences, expectations, and goals and how they all play a part in your sexual challenges.
Then, with gentle guidance and evidence-based strategies, you will begin to heal from wounds and step away from the patterns holding you back (e.g., self-critical voices, limiting beliefs, disruptive behaviors). I will support you in developing healthier habits, coping with your symptoms, and addressing your sexual issues.
As you build self-awareness and manage your difficulties, you will gain confidence to clarify, communicate, and fulfill your sexual needs. This will allow you to reconnect with yourself and your partner(s) to cultivate intimacy, reignite your passion, and embark on a thriving sex life.
Ultimately, the purpose is to help you step into your power so you can enjoy your sexual experience on your terms.

I’m Kristen, a licensed social worker, certified sex therapist and founder of Empowered Path Counseling and Coaching. I provide in-person, phone, and online sex therapy and other counseling services to adults and couples in Colorado.
My sex therapy specialties include challenges with intimacy, desire, arousal, performance, orgasm, satisfaction, pain, and trauma. My sex therapy approach is sex-positive and LGBTQI+ affirmative. I work with individuals of any gender identity, sexual orientation, marital status, and sexual lifestyle, including kink, BDSM, polyamorous, swingers, etc.
I use multiple modalities depending on what works for you and your partner(s), including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), solution-focused behavioral therapy (SFBT), and more. I also have extensive training in couples counseling, sexual health, and sexual functioning.
Above all else, I believe the client-therapist bond is the foundation of trust and genuine transformation. That’s why I strive to create a warm and relaxing environment that may look slightly different from other therapy offices, including cozy blankets, hot tea, snacks, and furry companions. I ditched the business attire and replaced it with comfy clothes—you may even see me kicking my shoes off, and you are welcome to do the same!
